Coffee Machine Reviews

What could be better than a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the comfort of your own home?
Well, if that’s something you love, a coffee machine could just be the perfect addition to your kitchen.
However, with the huge amount of choice, it can be a daunting job to find the best coffee machine for you.

From household names like De’Longhi and Tassimo (Bosch), and premium brands like Jura, to smaller brands such as Ascaso and Francis Francis.
Moreover, each brand produces a number of models and types. You can choose from traditional espresso machines, the new breed of pod and capsule machines, or more expensive automatic bean-to-cup machines. Not forgetting the good old filter machine of course.
On top of all that you then face the headache of fitting the kind of machine you want to go for into your price range.

Here at Coffee Machine Expert we provide you with detailed coffee machine reviews to help you make that choice.

You have the option of searching by brand or type, or you can select commercial coffee machines if you’re looking for a machine for your business or office.

All the reviews provide links to some of the best online deals out there for the machine being reviewed.

So let’s get started:

Espresso machines are still very popular despite being around for a long time now. These machines use ground coffee which allows you to use your favourite coffee to brew an espresso just the way you like it and to the standard you would generally find in a coffee shop.

The problem with this is that you need to do everything manually from measuring the correct quantity of coffee to put into the machine, and tamping down the coffee just enough to get the desired result, to having to clean the machine after every use. So it really depends on what’s important to you – if you want full control over the brewing process, including pressuring the correct amount of water through the coffee to extract just enough flavour in order to get the best possible espresso, then an espresso machine could be for you.

It should be added that espresso machines these days can take coffee pods, which are packs of pre-prepared ground coffee that you can just pop into the machine. While this simplifies some of the issues above it does narrow the choice of coffee you have and the control over the brewing process.

Most coffee machine companies produce espresso machines, such as the De’Longhi Icona ECO310. In terms of price it really depends on what you’re looking for. The Krups XP5240 might be a good choice if you’re simply looking for a no-frills machine that delivers a good espresso. If you’re more interested in build quality then the Cuisinart EM200U would be a good choice as it’ll rarely go wrong and also produce excellent coffee. Design is the key factor for you? Then the gorgeous Francis Francis range or Ascaso Dream might just get your pulse racing – but you’ll pay extra for those looks.

A pod or capsule system could be the answer if you’re looking for something simpler to use and faster for your morning coffee.
These machines are becoming increasingly popular and offer good quality coffee in the simplest and cheapest way, making them ideal for the busy modern home.

They also provide great variety as you can choose from a host of different drink capsules, from cappuccinos and lattes to hot chocolate and tea.
These machines have their own range of capsules which are specifically made for that particular system.

A sealed amount of ground coffee is contained in each capsule which is simply popped into the machine, which in turn usually reads a bar-code on the capsule and then produces the drink through a set of pre-programmed stages. Everything is very neat, easy, and clean.

Then simply remove the capsule from the machine after use and throw it away.
There are many well known producers of this type of machine such as Tassimo (Bosch), Dolce Gusto (Krups), and Senseo (Philips). They all offer a more affordable option than the last type we’ll look at – automatic bean-to-cup machines.

Automatic bean-to-cup machines are pretty self-explanatory, they produce coffee directly from coffee beans. Also, as the name suggests, all this is taken care of by the machine. All you have to do is load the hopper on top of the machine with the coffee beans of your choice, program the machine with your personal preferences, and the machine does the rest – from grinding the beans, measuring the correct amount of grounds, tamping the grounds, extracting the beverage with a professional 15 bar (or higher) pressure, and even frothing milk if necessary.

In essence you get the best of both worlds – the convenience of a capsule machine AND the quality of an espresso machine all rolled into one.

The only negative is the price-tag. High-end machines like the Jura S can set you back a pretty penny, while the popular De’Longhi Prima Donna and Magnifica models, while still expensive, wil cost considerably less. The Krups Espresseria EA8080 offers great value at a similar price to a top of the range espresso maker.

So you pay your money and take your choice, but with so much choice on offer there really is something for every taste and every budget
